The Fastest Way to Improve Your Personal Survival
– OR –
Why Cowardly Thugs Prey on Victims
My complete focus, for the past two decades, has been the safety of my family and myself. I am a traditional martial artist. I teach personal safety to my students who get the parts of my Survival method as they need them.
For the first time I put it all together in one place just for the Survival for Blondes blog; I wrote down this method to quickly transform Victims into Survivors. Right here in this post I will share with you how to stop worrying about your safety and I how to transform yourself into a Survivor.
Thugs don’t want to deal with Survivors – they attack Victims because Predators are AFRAID at their core!
That’s because it’s a hundred times easier to attack a Victim than a Survivor because a Victim has no plan. Predators avoid Survivors who make themselves hard to attack.
Victims falsely believe they can rely only on their skill and luck. That is why Victims struggle with fear. Survivors think strategically and know that they are responsible for creating their own safety.
There are two ways of looking at your family’s safety: you can go on acting like a Victim – living your life like you have a magic bullet that will somehow keep you safe – OR you can start thinking like a Survivor and begin to UNDERSTAND what it really takes to be safe.
How Grace Survived a Vicious Life-Threatening Attack!
I want to share with you the shocking true story of two Survivors. I personally know both women, I combined their stories, and call them “Grace” for privacy's sake.
Grace invited violence into her life: she habitually left her windows unlocked and her blinds open. Thugs shadowed her for a while, watched her fall asleep on her couch watching TV. These cowardly predators used a boy to climb through her window and open her home.
They quietly robbed her while she slept; their sounds masked by the drone of her own television. She only awoke when they brazenly took her TV – shutting off the white noise! Pretending to sleep, she heard the ring leader tell the young boy to go find her keys so he could return alone and rape her.
In that instant she understood that she would never be safe in her own home – she leapt up and grabbed the robber as he headed out her door! Startled he struck her repeatedly with her own pillowcase that he had filled with her electronics. He gave her a concussion and fractured her arm but she gave him back plenty because the police later found his blood on her shirt when they tested it for evidence. Grace really frightened this home invader because he shot her to escape – giving her a new lesson in adrenaline!
You don’t need to lie bleeding on your neighbor’s doorstep to learn Grace’s lesson. She had an Epiphany that night as the police and paramedics tended to her. She realized that she was lucky to survive and she decided then and there not to rely on luck anymore.
Grace recommends this book as a helpful resource.
Plan To Transform Yourself into a Survivor
So if you are willing to transform yourself into a Survivor –and put away the Victim’s habits of procrastination and superstition– then begin your work on your personal Survival plan today. I designed these eight steps specifically to transform you into a successful Survivor.
8 simple steps that make up the core of The Plan:
1) Love your Police 2) Understand Violence 3) Low Profile 4) Work Safety 5) Drive Safely 6) Home Safety 7) Your Response 8) Share YOUR plan.
#1 Fall in Love With Your Local Police
Grace told me that she never liked policemen. Their fierceness reminded her of predators. That night she learned killer angels are both fierce AND compassionate. Now she takes fresh baked cookies to her local police station; they know where she lives. They like her and she loves them.
#2 Know the Violence in Your Area
Understand the violence already going on in your neighborhood, your schools, and where you shop. Read your paper and know your community.
#3 Reduce Your Profile
Dress more modestly than you do now; don’t wear corporate logos, or carry bags, which advertise where you work; use less jewelry. Keep your head up.
#4 Stay Safe at Work
Understand the crime near your workplace. Read your employer's emergency plan. Carry a tactical flashlight. Don’t walk alone; leave with a coworker.
#5 Practice Good Car Security
Check your car before you get in. Lock your doors. Change your routes. Take a defensive driving course. Learn how to spot watchers. Grace told me that she found out about a rash of car thefts after she reported an undercover cop she spotted in her workplace parking lot to security. Trust your instincts.
#6 Home Safety
Lock your doors with at least two locks that need a key to open from the inside, Lock and blind windows. Buy and train a large breed working dog.
#7 Decide TODAY What You Are Willing to do
Decide how far you will take your response — tactical-flashlight, boat-whistle, pepper-spray, knife, pisto l— interview different instructors and find the right one for you. Grace keeps her knife ready between destinations.
#8 Have a Family Meeting and Share Your Plan
WRITE down your plan and share it with your family. Listen to their concerns and add them to your plan. Conduct family safety drills.
